The July Pretend Play Projects box from My Pretend Place arrived the other day and my kiddos couldn’t wait to see what was inside.
The My Pretend Place Projects box is geared towards children 3 to 8 years old. It contains all of the materials needed to complete a new pretend play item each month. They actually include enough materials to make 2 of each project — perfect for siblings or friends to join in the fun.
Subscriptions are just $15/month and shipping is free. While the My Pretend Place Dress-Up subscription ships quarterly, the Pretend Play Projects box is sent every month.
Let’s see what’s in the July My Pretend Place Projects box!
Like last month, the materials were all shipped in a small box wrapped with brown kraft paper.
The box included a letter inviting your child to join all of the characters at My Pretend Place in a “huge theatrical production” about pirates. They’re instructed to decorate the enclosed masks and start practicing for auditions by perfecting their pirate’s “Arr!”.
The instructions were pretty straight-forward: Decorate the masks!
The box included two pre-assembled pirate masks, along with 10 crayons to color them with.
My girls LOVE to color, so they got right to it.
Taking a break to practice their “Arrrrr-ing”. (Don’t let the dresses fool you, they were very menacing.)
Two pirate sticker books were also provided for a “sticker book activity adventure”. I’m not quite sure what the adventure entailed, but for us, it involved sticking some to the shipping box.
I loved that they each chose a “girl pirate” and “boy pirate” & placed them both next to one another. Twin love!!
Also included were stickers and a plastic handle to turn the shipping box into a suitcase or dress-up chest for continued pretend play. (We decided to use the stickers on the pirate masks.)
Overall, my girls did enjoy this month’s My Pretend Place Projects Box… BUT the fun didn’t last all that long. The mask project was pretty easy and probably took all of 5 minutes to complete. The sticker “project” wasn’t really a project at all and was a bit of a bummer to be honest. It would have been nice if they also included something to do with the stickers, like a background scene or even a few suggestions for a craft. They kinda dropped the ball on that one. Ah well, can’t win ’em all. 😉
If you’d like to sign up for the My Pretend Place Pretend Play Projects box, they’re offering new customers 30% off their first box! Just use coupon code “pretend” at checkout. I believe this also works for their Dress-Up Box (you can see my review of their latest Dress Up Box here)!
Oh — almost forgot — My Pretend Place July 2015 Dress Up Box “spoilers” have just been released (see photos below) and it looks like it’s going to be an awesome box! The girl’s box will be fairy themed, the boy’s will be firefighter, and gender neutral will be veterinarian. Too cute!!
