I always get excited when I find out about new sub boxes — especially ones that are tailored to babies/kiddos. That said, you never know quite what to expect when you receive a brand new box. Will it totally suck? Will it be full of dollar store clearance toys and sample sized Cheerios? Welp, I’m happy to say that this box was awesome.
Silly Rhino was founded by Anna, a mom of two boys who was having a hard time finding fun, quality toys and healthy snacks in her town. She spent hours researching products online and found that she wasn’t the only mom stuck weeding through reviews to find suitable things for her kiddos. She decided to create a service for parents to easily provide fun, educational bundles of awesomeness without having to spend hours online researching every single product. Thus, Silly Rhino was born. 🙂
Boxes are designed around your child’s age and gender. The box I received is for a 1 to 2 year old girl. Subscriptions start at $35.99 monthly, and are less with a 3 or 6 month commitment. Shipping is always free.
Alright, time to see what we got!
The box itself is adorable. Look at that cute little, er, silly rhino! 😀
Folkmanis Little Pig Puppet – Okay, confession time: I am in LOVE with this little piggy. Seriously. I’ve always had a soft spot for pigs (one of the reasons why I don’t eat them) and this lil’ guy is so stinkin’ cute. I wasted no time putting my hand up his nether-regions (c’mon, he’s a puppet) and perfecting my piggy puppetry. I went out for the afternoon with my mom the day I got my box and um… The piggy came along for the ride. haha The girls are still a little unsure of him, but I’m most definitely a fan. 😉 (Amazon Price: $11.86)
Ev approaches piggy with caution.
Is the piggy freaked out by Chloe, or is Chloe freaked out by the piggy? I think it’s a little bit of both.
Woodours Bowl & Spoon Set – This is a cute little bowl and spoon set that features the French artwork of the Woodours Papa and Baby Bear. I had never heard of Woodours so I Googled it and learned that “Woodour” means “wood bear”. I also found another site that described this bowl saying that “Little ones will delight in taking food from Baby Bear’s tummy and putting it into their own!”. haha Cute. Both the bowl and spoon are dishwasher safe. (Amazon Price: Bowl – $6.99 Spoon – $1.99)
“You Are My Baby” by Chronicle Books – I’ve never seen a book like this! It’s sort of like a book within a book. The large section features the mommy animals, while the smaller section shows you their babies. So cute! (Amazon Price: $7.92)
Bog Berry Dryer Balls – While I wouldn’t have bought these on my own (wool isn’t vegan), I will nonetheless put them to good use. (The farms that the wool is supplied by are eco-friendly, so I’m hoping that means animal-friendly too?) Anywhooo… You just toss these balls in the dryer with your clothes and they totally eliminate the need for dryer sheets. They’re supposed to reduce drying time, soften your clothes, as well as reduce static and wrinkles. Pretty neat. (Retail Price: $12 for 2 balls)
Earth’s Best Greek Yogurt Smoothie – I try to limit the girls’ dairy intake, but I make exceptions for some of the things I receive in boxes. Especially when they’re organic. Plus, my husband and parents (and probably the rest of my family) aren’t cool with raising them 100% vegan, sooo… A lil’ bit here and there won’t kill ’em. I guess. 😉 (Amazon Price: roughly $1.88)
All totaled, the items in my Silly Rhino box come to $42.64. Nice! We’ll definitely be able to use all of the items, so really that’s where the real value is. Plus, I, er I mean the girls have an awesome new piggy friend — and friends are priceless. 😀
