Long time, no post… Not that this is going to be an actual *post*. Just checking in on other blogs & thought I’d write a couple lines while I had a free minute. Aaaaand my minute is up… 😉 Gotta go tend to these little dweebs:
Everly & Chloe are ONE MONTH old today!!! Crazy. One month in… aaaand already I feel like a bad mom. Why? Because my camera battery died. When? Right after I took their first “one month” photo. Yep. I only got one shot before it crapped out. A practice one, at that. So the picture below, of my little one’s (ones’s?) big milestone, was not taken by me. For SHAME! 🙁 Uh… I did edit it though… That’s… something.
Ok, here’s the dealio — I feel like blogging, but I don’t really feel like thinking, know what I mean? The compromise? A nice little bullet-ed list of random thoughts/events/etc… Brilliant! Here goes… Tomorrow I would have been 38 weeks pregnant. It also would have been the date of my scheduled c-section. Crazy. I truly cannot imagine still being pregnant at this point. Sooo happy that they’re already here! Mike and I FINALLY got out of the house together on Friday evening. It was the first time I’d been “out” since being put on bed rest at 28 weeks (mid-June!). We went […]
Here it is! The time lapse project that Mike & I started at 17 weeks is now complete! It could have been longer, but frankly, being pregnant made me lazy. Very lazy. Some days, just getting me to drag my bloated booty upstairs to the nursery was like pulling teeth. Not to mention the fact that I couldn’t be bothered to put on makeup most of the time and was paranoid that I would look hideous. Oh, and then there was the whole “stuck on bedrest from 28 weeks” thing, resulting in a shorter than intended video. Thankfully, despite all […]
The girls are currently sleeping snug as lil’ bugs in their Pack-n-Play, so I’m taking advantage of a little “free time” to type up their birth story… (But something tells me I’m going to be writing this in more than one sitting.) Ok, where to begin… I guess it all started on July 31st, while at my high risk specialist appointment. My blood pressure was highly elevated and I was told to contact my obgyn. I had already scheduled an appointment for 2 days later, on August 2nd, so I figured I would just wait until then to inform my […]
Today we had the girls take part in their first little photoshoot in the nursery. I got some super cute shots that I used for our birth announcements. I could have snapped photos of them all day… Something tells me I’ll be using my dslr a LOT more now… I FINALLY have some worthwhile subject matter! My fingers are crossed that these photos don’t end up on another psycho’s website, claiming them to be their own. 🙁 Stupid internet, stealing my rosebuds…
Just a quick post to say that the rosebuds have arrived! They were born on Friday, August 3rd (at 34 weeks & 3 days) via c-section, due to my increasingly high blood pressure. Baby A (Everly Autumn Rose) was born at 2:42am, weighing 4lb 9oz. Baby B (Chloe Winter Rose) was born at 2:43am, weighing 4lb 10oz. They both spent about 3 days in the NICU for minor issues and were able to come home with us yesterday afternoon. I’ll write up a proper birth post at some point. — As I’ve been told, babies are big time-hogs! 🙂
Another milestone accomplished! When I found out about my shortened cervix at 28 weeks, the nurse told me to try to keep the babies cooking for at least another month (as if it’s really up to me… pfft). But here I am, at 32 weeks & 1 day and still growing my lil’ rosebuds. 🙂 My MIL took me to my 32-week specialist appointment on Monday and all looked well. I had my first non-stress test (NST), where they monitor their heartbeats to make sure they rise with movement and fall when they’re at rest. The results were great and […]
I’ve always been a fan of Target. I even tried to work there back in the day. Three separate times. I never did get hired though, mainly because I was too punk rock to take out my lip/nose/eyebrow rings. Ah, youth. Anywhooooo… It was only natural that when I found out I was pregnant, I opted to open a Baby Registry at Target. My baby showers came & went, and we received a lot of the things I had registered for. Awesome. All we had to do was order a few more things that we hadn’t gotten. My mom offered […]
I can’t believe tomorrow is the first day of July! — July!! If Baby A continues to mercilessly kick on my cervix (the girl wants OUT!), it’s very possible that July will be their birth month. Of course I’m hoping to keep them in longer, but I’ll be 34 weeks at the end of the month, so it wouldn’t be awful if they came that soon. Plus, I really can’t wait to meet them! And be able to breathe/sleep/walk/leave the house again! I’m way overdue for a “bumpdate” post, but I haven’t been taking many self portraits lately. Being on bedrest gives […]
Whelp, I did it. I survived the torture that is the 3-hour glucose test. And yes, it was just as bad as I expected it would be. My dear mother was nice enough to pick me up at 8:40am to get me to my appointment at 8:50. This was a big deal for her because like me, she is NOT a morning person. Needless to say, we were both dead tired & dreading the 3-plus hours of sitting in a packed waiting room. And packed it was. The room was teeming with old people. Grumpy-looking ones. Everywhere. Anxious, grumpy old […]
Just a quick post to whine about the fact that I FAILED my 1-hour glucose test. 🙁 I was DREADING having to take the 3-hour, because I’m absolutely terrified of getting blood drawn. It freaks me the eff out. It was bad enough to have to get stuck with that needle once, but I hear the 3-hr test requires FIVE blood draws?! Uggghhhh… Needless to say, I’m terrified. Anyone else have to take the 3-hour test? Was it as bad as I’m anticipating? Did you pass?
I have a confession to make: I’m a lazy cook. Like, super lazy. Sure, like any card-carrying herbivore, I have a nice little collection of vegan cookbooks propped up on a shelf above my stove. I even have a binder full of recipes that I’ve clipped out of magazines over the years. And copies of vegweb recipes scattered here and there. Yes, I’m fully armed with the resources & inspiration to create a plethora of yummy, cooked-from-scratch vegan delicacies. The problem? Recipes scare me. More specifically, crazy long lists of ingredients: A cup of this, a teaspoon of that, a dash of some […]
My dear husband is 33 today. (He finally caught up with me!) When we met face to face for the first time on a super awkward coffee date at Barnes N’ Noble, I would never have guessed that we’d be married — & expecting twins— a mere 4 years later. It’s been a bumpy road at times, and we’ve certainly mastered the art of “bickering like an old married couple”, but I can’t imagine being with anyone else. Sorry Michael, but unless you have other plans, I’m afraid we have many, many more years of driving each other crazy ahead of […]
