Let’s see what’s in the May 2016 Pura Vida Box!
The box was shipped via priority mail and was tucked inside of a larger box to keep it in tact during its journey.
The actual box was covered in colorful pineapples!
A peek inside.
An info card listed all of the items in the box, along with a brief description for each one.
Pura Vida Costa Rican Tarrazu – As promised, coffee! The info card describes this as a rich, full bodied Costa Rican Tarrazu with a bold flavor.
Earth Meets Water Leaves of Life Soy Candle – A hand-poured candle made with 100% soy wax. “Leaves of Life” features a blend of eucalyptus, sage, mint, basil, and aloe. It has a light, not too overpowering scent and I love the addition of the jute strings adorned with little charms. Nice touch!
Pura Vida Natural Pumice Stone – Use this 100% natural earth stone to gently exfoliate your skin. My skin is super sensitive, so I only use these on my feet. They work well!
Wild Botanicals Coffee Scrub Soap – A handcrafted, vegan-friendly bar soap made with all natural ingredients. It’s infused with coffee grounds which provide gentle exfoliation, while the caffeine (along with cayenne) helps with blood circulation and reduces the appearance of cellulite. Other ingredients include coconut oil, olive oil, and pumice.
Handcrafted Reclaimed Wood Soap Dish – A simple little soap holder made with different varieties of reclaimed wood. Use it with the included bar soap to extend its life. 🙂
Wild Botanicals Simple Lip Balm – The ideal lip product for those who are sensitive to strong scents, this is an unscented “plain” lip balm. It’s handmade with jojoba oil, beeswax, grapeseed oil, shea butter, raspberry seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, essential oils, and natural extracts. Personally, I prefer flavored/scented balms, but that’s okay. 😉
Meditation Mala Beads – A pretty handcrafted mala bead necklace made with various shades of red and brown(ish) beads. I like the neat “flower” type knot at the end. Pretty!
Rise Protein Bar in Almond Honey – This bar has just 3 simple ingredients: almonds, honey, and whey protein isolate.
Nib Mor Original Daily Dose of Dark Chocolate – Yum!! These little chocolate squares are delicious and (thankfully) vegan-friendly. They’re organic and made with 72% cacao that’s ethically sourced and non-GMO.
I really enjoyed the first offering from Pura Vida Box! I liked that many of the items were sourced from Etsy and were indeed handcrafted. I also liked how they included a nice mix of both bath & body items, as well as jewelry and healthy snacks. I didn’t do a cost breakdown, so I’m not quite sure of the total value… That said, $47 does seem a little steep for a monthly subscription box. However, if you’d like to sign up, remember that you can save 10% off every month for LIFE with coupon code “PURAVIDA“!
May 2016 Pura Vida Box Review
I loved everything about this box, except the price. The items were all nice, high quality products but $47 just seems like a lot to spend on a monthly subscription. However, this is only their first box, so maybe they can find a way to cut costs? It was a great box otherwise! 🙂
