I was recently sent a DIY Wax Melts Kit for review, so let’s check it out!

Everything was shipped in a medium-sized brown box with the Simply Earth logo on top & the name of the kit on the side.

A peek in the box!

Clean Burn Soy Wax
A 16 ounce bag of clean burn soy wax will serve as the main “ingredient” in your wax melts. Its only ingredient is hydrogenated soybean oil — no icky petroleum-based wax here!

Flower Silicone Mold
The kit included two different silicone mold trays. The tray above allows you to make a total of 70 adorable cherry blossom shaped wax melts at one time.

Dot Silicone Mold
The second tray/mold featured just under 250 small “dots” — 247 to be exact. 😉 Both molds also came with their own plastic scraper tools to help you to evenly fill all of the cavities with liquified wax.

Amber Plastic Jars
Two lidded amber colored plastic jars were provided to safely hold all of your completed wax melts.

A separate, smaller box held the remaining materials/ingredients.

Simply Earth Coastal Cactus Safer Fragrance Oil
According to the label, this clean fragrance oil is free from parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and dyes. It’s scent is described as “a refreshing blend of green citrus and coconut with soft floral notes and a smooth base of musk and sandalwood”.
Simply Earth Ho Wood Essential Oil
Ho Wood essential oil is derived from the Cinnamomum camphora plant — a large evergreen tree that grows in Asia. Some of its many uses include promoting immunity, soothing the skin, supporting women’s wellness, calming anxiety, and reducing the appearance of breakouts.

Rose Red Mica Powder
A packet of 100% natural rose red-colored mica powder was included to give a pretty hue to your wax melts. The powder contains absolutely nothing synthetic and was ethically sourced here in the United States.

Label Stickers
A sheet of pre-printed label stickers was provided for adhering to your completed wax melt jars.

“Desert Bloom Wax Melts” Recipe Card
The all-important recipe card listed all of the materials needed, along with complete step-by-step instructions (more shown on back, not pictured.)
Okay, time to make some wax melts!

The first step was to prep the molds by placing them on a pan/tray (I used a cookie sheet) lined with wax paper to catch any spills.

Next, I portioned out roughly 2 cups of the soy wax into a microwave-safe container to be melted using short intervals.

Once fully liquified, I added the essential oil & fragrance oil and stirred until fully incorporated into the melted wax.

Then it was time to carefully pour the mixture into the waiting molds, leaving the outer cavities empty.

I used the provided scraper tool to evenly distribute the wax into all of the inner cavities.

Once both molds were properly filled, I placed the baking sheet in the fridge for 30 minutes or so to allow the wax to set.

Here they are straight from the fridge.

Next, I simply popped each wax melt out of the molds — which was basically like playing with one of those popper fidget toys. (A fun task for kids, though a bit messy!)

Now it was time for the second batch. I melted the remaining 2 cups of wax, then added both the fragrances and some mica powder to give it a pretty pink hue.

The rest of the process was the same. Fill the molds with the melted wax…

…allow the wax to harden in the fridge…

…then pop ’em all out.

The melts were then placed into the provided jars. The instructions said to combine the colors, but I just stuck with pink in one jar and white in the other. I may reconsider and combine them later. 😉

They all turned out so nice!

The flowers were my favorite. 🙂

The final step was to apply the colorful label stickers to each of the jars.

All done and ready to use (or gift!).
