Orange Glad is a new subscription box launched last month that specializes in baked goods and sweet treats. They select popular items from various bakeries around the country and pack them all together to be delivered right to your door. Boxes start at $15/month plus shipping. Not a bad deal for a box full of yummers.

Unfortunately for me, none of the items in the August box were vegan. However, I fully expected this to be the case, so I wasn’t too bummed. My family was more than happy to take the treats off my hands.

TWIN STUFF

The girls had their twelve month checkup this week. Everything was great, except that the doctor wants them to go to a feeding clinic. They still don’t quite enjoy the whole “solids” thing, nor do they want any part of holding their own bottles. And sippy cups? Pfft. So yeah, I guess they need some… intervention. Anyone have any experience with this sorta thing? Or are my kiddos just little divas who think they’re too posh to chew?

I got my Citrus Lane box a little earlier this month, so that was a nice change. No hangin’ out in Jersey this time. *fist pump* Musta been too hot at the Shore.

Love with Food Box July 2013 Review & Code for Free Box!

This month I decided to try a Love with Food box. I used a code that I found for a free box (I only had to pay $2.00 for shipping — code shared at end of post), so I figured I had nothing to lose.

Love with Food is a monthly subscription service that features 8 or more gourmet foods/snacks for $12 a month (even less with longer subscriptions). For every box purchased, they donate a meal to a child in need. Nice!

As with most food/snack boxes, I knew there would be a chance that there wouldn’t be any vegan items included. Thankfully, there was plenty! The other stuff will go to my husband and/or other family members. Everybody wins!

Citrus Lane June 2013 Review & Discount

It’s here! My June Citrus Lane Box finally arrived today. It always feels like I’m the last person to get theirs. My box tends to hang out in Jersey for an extra day, gettin’ its GTL on. Not cool, box. Not cool.

Since I got mine so late I had already read a ton of spoilers, so I had an idea of what would be in this month’s box. The theme was “Fun in the Sun” and all of the boxes in my age group (11 months) included a hat, sunscreen, a sand/pool toy, and some kind of snack. There were a lot of complaints on Facebook about the size of the sunscreen, and the fact that buckets were sent without any kind of shovel (no one likes a shovel-less bucket!). So after seeing all of the bad reviews, I was kind of nervous about getting ours.

To my surprise, my box was actually pretty awesome. (No shovel-less bucket! Woo!)

Citrus Lane May 2013 Review and Discount

After taking a strange detour from Indiana to New Jersey (and hanging out there for a few days), my May Citrus Lane box finally found its way home.

Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for babies/kiddos up to 5 years old. It’s $25/month (or less with 6 or 12-month subs). Shipping is included. Every box contains at least 4 items, tailored towards the age/gender of your child. My box was for a 9-month old girl (well, girls.)

I initially signed up in March, but since April was already sold out, I had to wait until May to get my first box. Being that I’m the most impatient person EVER when it comes to mail, this was a LONG wait. What made it even worse was seeing everyone else’s spoiler pics on Facebook while my box was stuck in NJ throwing back shots with Snooki & JWoww. (I totally just Googled the correct spelling of JWoww. Really thought there was a hyphen in there.)

Making dad proud, one free diaper at a time.

If someone were to ask me “What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received from your father?”, I wouldn’t have to give it a second thought. One phrase would immediately pop into my head and I’d proudly echo the words I’ve heard my dad proclaim many times throughout my life.

Was it some hokey Ward Cleaver-esque gem about always doing the right thing? Nope. Perhaps a famous quote about following your dreams? Not so much. The one piece of (not quite) fatherly advice that will stick with me forever?

“If it’s free, take it!”

Ah, yes, my father has instilled in me the gift of thrift.
The flair for frugality.
The craving for the saving.

So it’s only fitting that once I found out I was having twins, I was determined to get all the “multiples” discounts/freebies/coupons that I could dig up. Babies are NOT cheap. And twins? Pffft. I knew I’d need all the help I could get.

I scoured the internet for baby-related companies and dropped them emails asking if they offered any special discounts for multiples. Some companies requested actual proof of the twin births, some didn’t. Some offers were generous, some not so much. I kept a list of the companies I contacted, what they required from me, and what I ended up receiving. (Yeah, I kinda got really into this.)

So without further ado, I present to you…

Pampers (requested proof of birth) – Received coupons: one for a free pack of diapers (up to $13.99), one for $5.00 off, two for $2.00 off, and one for $1.00 off wipes.
Luvs (requested proof of birth) – Received coupons: one for a free pack of diapers (up to $9.00), one for $4.00 off, two for $2.00 off, and one for $1.00 off wipes.
Gerber (no proof needed) – Received coupons: one for $10 off any Gerber food items, two $3.00 coupons for formula.
Tomy (requested proof of birth) – Received: 2 soft rattles, 2 sets of 4 colorful sippy cups with travel caps.

Sprout (no proof needed) – Received: four coupons for $1.00 off.
Ocean Spray (requested proof of birth) – Received: one coupon for a free product (up to $5.99) and one for 55 cents off.
Enfamil (no proof needed) – Received: one coupon for $5.00 off formula. I also asked our pediatrician to enroll us in the Enfamil multiples program & received a case of free formula delivered to our door (12 cans!).

Seventh Generation (no proof needed) – Received: 12 diaper samples (3 different sizes), four coupons for 75 cents off any product, 3 sample packs of wipes, 2 samples of laundry detergent, 3 samples dish soap, and 2 samples of hand wash.

Johnson & Johnson (no proof needed) – Received: three coupons for $1.00 off any of their products. (I used them for baby cotton swabs that were $1.49, so I only paid 49 cents. Not bad.)
Earth’s Best (no proof needed) – Received: six coupons for wipes, diapers, baby food.
Huggies (requested proof of birth) – Received: two coupons for $3.00 off, two coupons for $2.00 off. (I had to re-email them months after my request because I didn’t receive anything from them. They ended up sending me two separate mailings with the coupons mentioned above. Kind of disappointed though, as Pampers & Luvs offered MUCH better savings. Eh, Huggies are kinda shitty anyway… Their wipes tear too easily. But I digress…)

So there it is. My big list ‘o savings for us moms of twins (or more!). If anyone has any additions to the list, please send them my way & I’ll gladly add (and use!) them.
