I can’t believe it’s already time for the Fortune Cookie Soap winter box! I’m still making my way through all the products from the fall one. Geez. Not that I wasn’t looking forward to it… The theme this time is “Old Fashioned Family Christmas” — a tribute to the movie “Christmas Vacation”! Ahh! So cool!
For those who aren’t aware, the Fortune Cookie Soap Box is a quarterly offering of bath & body goods from Fortune Cookie Soap. A new product line is launched 4 times a year and the box will contain some of these products and be shipped 2 weeks before the official launch. This gives you a sneak peek at the new line and a chance to try them out before anyone else. Plus they also include a $10 gift code to use on your next order.
Every box will contain 8 sample sized products, including one of their signature fortune cookie soaps. Samples can include lotions, bath salts, candles, hand sanitizers, room sprays, and more. Subscriptions are $19.99 and shipping is free (remember — you also get a $10 gift code in the box!).
“Christmas Vacation” is one of my favorite holiday movies ever, so I was totally psyched when they announced the theme a few weeks ago. The Griswolds were a big part of my childhood and I can recite the lines to almost every scene in the original “Vacation” movie. I also know the words to the “Wally World” theme song by heart. Impressed yet? Okay, moving on…
Let’s see what’s in the box!
First look. — Yes!! I’m finally a member of the Jelly of the Month Club! (“The gift that keeps on giving!”)
The info card was dripping with holiday cheer and plenty of fun references to the movie.
“Moose Mug” Cuticle Butter – The description says that this smells like egg nog, but since I’ve never actually had egg nog, I’ll just have to take their word for it. It definitely smells Christmas-y. My cuticles are always in pretty rough shape in the winter, so I’ll give this a try. If nothing else, at least it’ll make my hands smell nice.
“Bend Over & I’ll Show You” Whipped Cream – Whipped cream is my favorite discovery from Fortune Cookie Soap. I got a blueberry-pumpkin scented one in the fall box that I had to get a full sized jar of because it smells amazing. This one is no different… it’s like Christmas in a jar. Light, fluffy Christmas that I can rub all over my body. ‘Tis the season!
“Christmas Bonus” Deep Conditioner – I couldn’t find a deep conditioner on their site, so I don’t know how long you leave it on your hair. That’s the only thing that kinda sucks about the pre-launch products… some don’t have labels and you have to rely on the short descriptions on the info card to figure out what they are. Ah well, no biggie.
“I Pledge Allegiance, Amen!” Shower Steamer – I’ve always wanted to try one of these. I love bath bombs, but have never used anything like that in the shower. You just pop this in the shower (away from the drain), let it work its fizzy magic, and breathe in the aromatherapy goodness. Oh, this one is described as a blend of “blue spruce and balsam fir, fresh mint and garden herbs”. Sounds invigorating!
“Mele Kelekimaka” OCD Hand Sanitizer – I really need to start using all of the hand sanitizers I have. I’ve gotten so many great-smelling ones from subscription boxes over the past few months and I never think to use them. I just end up washing my hands a zillion times a day instead.
“Fried Pussycat” Whipped Soap – I couldn’t find this one on their site either… I found bar soap, foaming hand soap… but no whipped soap. Do I use it to wash my hands, body, face, or all of the above? Is it self-explanatory and I’m just a clueless turd? I dunno. I do know that it smells lovely. Very un-“fried pussycat”-like.
“Sparky” Hydrate Me – This is a conditioning bar (er, bulb) that you rub all over your body after washing. Air dry a bit after stepping out of the shower to let the oils absorb into your skin. I’ve used something similar to this once and found it way too oily/buttery, but we’ll see if this one’s different (I hope so).
“‘Tis the Season to be Mary” Fortune Cookie Soap – Seeing this reminded me that I still haven’t used the fortune cookie soap from the fall box yet. Whoops! This is described as having “a hint of sweet almond with warm swirls of tobacco”. Not my favorite scent of the bunch, but not awful either.
Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the products included in the winter Fortune Cookie Soap box. The theme was great, I loved the holiday scents, and it was nice to actually “get” all of the movie references this time (unlike fall’s Oz-themed box).
