January 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have unboxing time!
If you’re new here, POPSUGAR Must Have is a monthly lifestyle subscription box that’s curated with a fun variety of “on trend” products curated by the POPSUGAR team. Items can range from food, beauty, household, fashion, fitness gear and everything in between. Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, everything in this box is full sized. The total value is almost always well over $100!
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Monthly boxes are $39.95, but you can save $5 on your first month with coupon code “MUSTHAVE5“.
Let’s see what’s in the January 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have box!
The familiar pink & white POPSUGAR Must Have box.
A peek inside!
As always, the info card included photos, descriptions, and retail values for each item. The January 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have box was inspired by the following themes: New, Fresh, Detox, Motivation, Healthy, and Revitalize.
This was January’s first spoiler and while I’m sure a lot of subscribers were thrilled to get an $85(!!) facial peel, it’s just not for me. I have insanely sensitive skin so I’m always a bit wary to try new products on my face. Ah well. According to their website, this peel’s unique combination of lactic acid and multi-fruit enzymes provide superior exfoliation while reducing the appearance of fine lines, pores, and skin imperfections.
POPSUGAR sent an eQua yoga hand towel back in their January 2015 box, but this is the much larger yoga mat towel. It features a sweat activated grip and is made of ultra plush, super absorbent microfiber. It’s also quick-drying, slip-resistant, and measures 72” x 26.5”.
This 2017 desk calendar from May Designs features 12 hand painted floral designs on 5 x 7 inch luxe white paper. The cards sit perched on a clear easel for a super polished look. When each month is over, you can flip the cards over and cut along the dotted line to turn each one into a pretty notecard. Pre-printed greetings are included with plenty of space to write your own personal message.
Another item that’s a total miss for me. I currently have really short hair, but even when my hair was longer I never had the need/desire to wrap it up in a towel. Still, for those with longer hair who do have a need for something like this, I guess it’s not a bad inclusion.
A book of 101 pre-printed sticky notes with uplifting messages, quotes, and illustrations to help brighten someone’s day. Some of the messages are a little bizarre — “10 second vacation: Think about a trip to the zoo.”) — but the majority are useable. 😉
Dean & Deluca Peppermint Tea ($10.75)
I’ve just started trying to limit my coffee intake to one cup per day (ugh!), so this tea came at the perfect time. Actually, since it’s made with only peppermint leaves, is it still considered a tea? Either way, I’m happy to have it. 🙂
Special Extra: Glade N°3 Free Coconut and Beach Woods Candle ($4.99)
I was a little surprised to see a candle from Glade in a POPSUGAR Must Have box, but it does smell quite nice. It’s also made with soy wax, which I’m guessing is unique to this new line. Honestly, if you just showed me the candle above (without the cardboard packaging), I’d assume it was a $15-20 artisan candle. That doesn’t mean I’m going to start buying Glade products, but still. It could have been worse. 😉
Okay, so obviously I didn’t LOVE the first POPSUGAR Must Have box of 2017, but it wasn’t a total disappointment. I did like the peppermint tea, sticky notes, and candle. The desk calendar is nice, but I really don’t have much use it. Ah well. All totaled, January’s retail value was just over $150! Hard to complain about that. 😉
If you’d like to check out POPSUGAR Must Have for yourself, you can save $5 on your first box when you use coupon code “MUSTHAVE5” at checkout. That’ll make your box around $35 shipped!
January 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review
January’s box was just kinda “meh” for me. Not awful by any means, but not a lot of items that I’ll personally use. Here’s hoping February’s makes up for it. 😉
